Resident Camp for Ages 6-15

Our week long Traditional Camp allows children to experience adventures in a safe, caring camp environment. Activities will enhance a camper’s self esteem, confidence, and social skills.

Children will live in an 8-10 camper cabin with at least two well-trained, responsible staff leaders. A positive, Christian setting is provided for the campers at all times with their own age levels. Our goal is for campers to leave with a deeper understanding of their own potential and a new collection of life-long memories and friends.

Where Fun Comes Naturally!

At Camp Hanes we are always striving to meet our camper’s needs. We have been excited to see our camper number grow over the past years and especially in the teen age group. We want to continue to offer programs that help campers with their ABCs: their sense of Accomplishment, Belonging and continue to develop Character.

In order to continue these goals we are making some changes to our summer camp program. We offer traditional camp to three age groups. These changes move our program toward a focus of progression. It will open opportunities for our campers: Mini Campers (ages 6-9) are often first time campers who are ready to sample all of camp but would benefit from a shorter experience.  Our Climbers (ages 6-9) program will grow camper’s confidence. The Mountaineers (ages 10-12) will move toward independence and the Explorers (ages 13-15) will work on developing skills in a positive social atmosphere.  This year we have adjusted our schedule to allow for even more activities and more variety.

We also offer program for teens.  Our Adventure programLeaders In Training (LIT) and Counselors In Training Programs (CIT) which have been popular for this special audience.  The leadership skills, focus on service and positive social environment make for a impactful experience. Types

Climbers – Ages 10-12

Rising 1st-4th Graders

The focus for the Climber campers is to build their confidence. The goal is for campers to try a variety of activities, make friends and learn about their interests. Campers travel with their cabin groups to an array of activities. Once a day they will have a choice time called “clubs”.  They will have opportunities for swimming, canoeing, horseback riding, water zip lines, crafts, archery, water slides and other activities focused on the success of our youngest campers. The ratio will be a lower number of campers to each of well trained and qualified staff.

Mountaineers – Ages 10-12

Rising 5th-7th Graders

The Mountaineer program is the next step in our progression focus. The campers will spend half of the activity time in cabin centered activities and the second part of their day will be their class choices. Campers will have the opportunity to choose three activities in which they can develop skills and learn about their potential. Many activities will have levels of skill and experience that they can earn. Campers will stay in cabins of 10-12 campers with at least two staff. Campers will meet friends from their cabins as well as others who have similar interest and goals.

Explorers – Ages 13-15

Rising 8th-10th Graders

The Explorers program is the oldest age group in our traditional camp program. Campers will have the opportunity to participate in classes of their choice to continue to work on skills and work towards new levels of progress.. Each day there will be group activity time that will be a time for Explorer camp to do all the great activities camp offers. Explorers day will end later and offer more activities. The program will have a focus on interacting with friends in a positive social atmosphere.
